Giving Back to the Community Builds Company Morale - U.S. Computer Connection

People who work for computer consulting companies and other small businesses often say they feel like they are working with friends or family instead of just coworkers.  Strong bonds between coworkers build company morale and improve employee job performance, which is why company supported events are so important.

One of the best ways for your company to boost morale is by working together to support local nonprofits. If you are looking for ways to give back in Southern Connecticut, here are some of the organizations who would appreciate your support.

Boys and Girls Club of Stamford & Greenwich

The Boys and Girls Club serves around 1,500 children between the ages of six and 18. They offer programs after school and for youth development. The Boys and Girls Club offers youth a safe place to grow and an alternative to finding recreation on their own or on the street.

Local Boys and Girls Clubs accept both donations and volunteer time, so they are a great way for you to set up an event for your company to help out in person. In the end, spending time with kids who need it is a great way to build morale for your company.

Techcycle

Access to technology is important for everyone, but it can be critical for school age children. Unfortunately, many children don’t have access to computers at home. They may also attend schools who have limited technology budgets and only get limited exposure there as well—this is where Techcycle attempts to help.

Techcycle’s goals are to “eliminate the digital divide so that every student has access to technology at home and can become computer literate.” They take contributions of unneeded computers from businesses, and then refresh the hardware and software so that they can be recycled to local families in need. Support for these computers is provided by local high schools that help the families set them up with state of the art software.Learn more about Techcycle here.

The Choice is Endless

The great thing about involving your company in a local nonprofits mission is that the gratitude is immediate and endless.  Your choices are endless from terrific organizations like Person-to-Person, ReachPrep, Future 5, UJF, Junior Achievement and many other amazing local organizations.  Your staff will have opportunities to engage and work as a team, which will grow employee satisfaction and your company morale.
